On the Ground:
First, you need to fill out the required paperwork, after that you will receive
a brief instruction of about 20 minutes. This includes
exiting the aircraft and body position in freefall. Other instruction, including
how to land will be given while you are attached to your instructor on a dual
harnessed parachute throughout the Skydive.
Equipment:
A Jumpsuit and soft helmet
are supplied. We recommend that you bring sportswear, athletic Sneakers, and socks
that will fit comfortably under your jumpsuit. Freefall Video
or landing photographs are available upon your request.
The Jump:
You will enter the aircraft with your instructor, and climb to an altitude of 13,500 feet.
The freefall of the jump will be approximately 40 seconds. At appx 5000 feet, your
instructor will deploy the main canopy, and you will get about a four minute ride under
the canopy.
If you decide to get the jump with video and still pictures, a videographer dedicated to you will
join you on your skydive. Some dropzones will only have the tandem instructor attach a camera to his
hand to accomplish this. We feel that this compromises safety, as well as giving you a substandard
video, and thats why you always get a dedicated, experienced, and talented videographer with your
tandem skydive at Skydive Long Island!
After The Jump:
There will be an individual critique
by your Tandem Master. Tandem Jump Certificate is presented with hearty Congratulations.
Don't forget to visit manifest again to pick up a T shirt to remember the occasion!
We highly recommend making reservations for returning jumps. Try to arrive as prepared
for returning jumps as you did for your first, wear appropriate clothing, no boots or shoes
with hooks, bring your logbook, and don't forget to eat!
