Tandem skydiving or becoming qualified as a skydiver yourself is a highly rewarding and quite accessible thing to do. Over the years we have become very good at introducing people to the world of freefall, and want as many people as possible to experience it at least once. When aiming for your first skydive, it is likely you have many questions rolling around in your head about the best way to achieve it. A pretty common thing people wish to know before booking in is if there is a best time of the day to skydive? Let's have a look...
Timing
Skydiving operations are run to an organized schedule that starts first thing in the morning, and the best way to ensure you jump on time is to book for early in the day. We are good about keeping things on time, but for the best possible accuracy for when you are going to jump - arriving early is best. The only part of the process we cannot control is the weather, and sometimes we have to wait for a bit for some cloud to pass or wind to drop.
Condition
Early in the morning is when the conditions are most agreeable for flying aeroplanes and parachutes. The air is cool and smooth, allowing for the most comfortable and enjoyable experience on the ground, during the plane ride, and while you descend back to earth. Later in the evening when the sun sinks low and the day cools down also offers some excellent conditions, and there is much to be said for a sunset jump, but when considering everything - any time is a good time to skydive!
Visuals
Skydiving allows you to see the world from a new perspective, and an unobstructed view of the world from above can have a profound effect on people. Also, capturing your jump on video and in photos is important so you can show off to your friends and family later. When the sun is still low in the sky presents the best light for the visuals of skydiving - longer shadows provide definition to the scenery on the ground, and light from the side rather than above illuminates your beaming face in the best way.
Feelings
Thrilling experiences like freefall release chemicals in our bodies that make us feel good - and continue to do so afterward which can have very positive short and long-term benefits. Also, if you have never been skydiving before it is normal to be nervous about it. What better way to get the absolute most of skydiving than to do it as early in the day as possible? Why spend hours feeling tense about it? When you jump there is no fear, all the anxiety you were carrying is simply gone in an instant. After you land you will feel great, so why not make that last as long as possible?
More
It is very common that the first thing people want after they have experienced skydiving is to do more skydiving. We can help! The earlier you jump, the better your chance is of going again right away and without having to re-book and return another day*. If you are instantly hooked and now want to learn to skydive solo, hanging out at the dropzone for a bit to learn about how it all works and watch things in action is an excellent first step. By the time you leave you can learn how to begin your skydiving journey.
* Every day is different and we cannot guarantee same day jumps as skydiving is weather dependent and other groups arriving on time, space on the plane, etc.
...
The best time to go skydiving is as soon as possible. For the various reasons listed above, aiming for early will serve you the best, but providing the conditions are correct for jumps, skydiving is amazing at any hour of the day. Here at Skydive Long Island, we begin jump operations in April as things brighten up following the Winter, and look forward to having you jump us soon.
