Most skydives now start the same way: with a Google search.

At Skydive Long Island, many of our tandem skydiving customers find us via searches such as 'skydiving NYC or 'skydiving near me'. But once you start browsing, another search may appeal - 'skydiving best price'. This is an easy trap to fall into.

Remember your first skydive is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, so here are some tips from an experienced skydiver on getting the best deal (and that doesn't mean the cheapest!).

Experience Is Priceless

It is important to remember that skydiving can be a dangerous activity. The excellent skydiving safety statistics we have achieved in US skydiving are down due to the constant efforts of our experienced professionals.

Good skydiving centers ('dropzones') are managed by seasoned skydivers who have seen it all, done it all. They are staffed with professional, highly trained tandem instructors. The newer instructors are carefully mentored and supervised by the old hands.

Good dropzones are always affiliated with the United States Parachute Association (USPA).

A Skydive Is More Than A Fall

Although getting to your exit altitude and back down to the ground safely is your first priority in a skydive, there's so much more to a good experience than just survival!

A great skydiving center will offer you real customer service, you will feel cared for and attended to throughout the day. Your instructors will be friendly and well-presented and you will love every second you spend in their company.

From the welcome you get at sign-in to the high-five you receive once you land, every aspect of the experience should be enjoyable and exhilarating.

Reputation Is Earned

Reputation is gained through consistent safety and good service, provided over an extended time.

Always purchase from a reputable dropzone. If you pay a premium price for a good reputation, they will earn it by providing the best experience of your life.

This is how you determine a skydiving center's reputation. A skydive is an exhilarating and important experience that people love to talk about - a good (or a bad) dropzone will have reviews a plenty.

If It Seems Too Good To Be True...

It almost certainly is. Running a skydiving center isn't cheap. You have instructors to train, life-saving equipment and aircraft to maintain, parachute packers to pay.

If a center is offering a much lower price than the others you have seen, you must question where they are making their savings.
