Why A Skydiving Engagement?

Jumping out of an airplane is amazing. It's a challenge, an epic adventure, an empowering achievement, and it's crazy fun. The anticipation of the skydiving experience ... the intensity of freefall ... the tranquility of the parachute ride ... and the victorious feeling of landing ... it's unlike anything you've experienced before or will experience after. And the naturally-produced chemicals that your brain releases throughout the process makes it all extra-level awesome. The magical mix of adrenaline, serotonin, and dopamine makes you feel on top of the world - like there's nothing you can't do. So, why a skydiving engagement? Because when you're both on cloud nine, there's no better time to pop the question!

The Logistics

At Skydive Long Island, your first jump will be a tandem skydive. With tandem skydiving, each student is securely harnessed to an instructor (and the parachute system). Tandem skydiving instructors are highly trained and experienced. They will handle all of the technical stuff so you can relax (as best you can, considering the added excitement of the day!) and savor every part of your mega-special jump.

Our aircraft is perfectly sized to allow for two tandem pairs to go up together - which means that you and your beloved will be the only guests on the plane during your skydive. After taking in breathtaking coastal views, you'll jump out with your respective instructors just a few seconds apart.

The Proposal

At Skydive Long Island, we've seen (and helped to facilitate) a number of skydiving proposals over the years. Our instructors know that a successful proposal requires professionalism and discretion. We've got your back...

Typically, "the question" is posed on landing, oftentimes with a HUGE banner that says "Will You Marry Me?" across the landing area. If that's not what you have in mind, tell us what you want to accomplish and we'll do everything we can to help you pull it off!

Getting a media package for any skydive is recommended, and getting one for skydiving proposals is almost non-negotiable! The look on everyone's face during their life-changing first skydive is awesome. Multiply that by "Will You Marry Me?" ... Priceless ....

The Timing

Skydiving dropzones can be busy places, especially on weekends during the summer. You're welcome to jump with us at any time, of course, but if you have special considerations it's best to plan for a quieter day when you can have our full attention.
