Jumping out of an airplane and falling towards the earth is certainly one of the most amazing things that we can choose to do. If you have never been skydiving before though, it can be a potentially nerve-jangling idea that fills your head with questions. Right off the bat, there are a few things that need a yes before you can proceed. Let's start with the most important one of all...
Should I Want To Go Skydiving?
Yes, very much. Despite what your monkey brain wants you to think about remaining firmly in contact with the ground, leaping from an airplane up above 10,000 feet and flying towards the earth at around 120 mph is a truly unique and amazing experience. Being nervous about it is completely normal, but as soon as you exit the aircraft there is only the joy of zooming through the air and very likely the best view of the world you have ever seen.

Am I 18 Years or Older?
According to the rules managed by the United States Parachute Association (USPA), you need to be at least 18 to make a skydive. If you are not yet a legal adult then you will need to wait a bit before you can make a jump.
Do I Have Suitable Identification?
To cover the appropriate admin skydiving requirements, you need to have a valid, government-issued ID card. If you don't have something suitable, you will not be able to jump. Why not use this as motivation to get a bit of useful paperwork done? Usually, paperwork is boring - but filling out some forms to go skydiving should jazz it up a bit!
Do I Have Any Relevant Medical Issues?
If you have taken advice from a medical professional that advises against certain types of activity, this may involve skydiving. Making a parachute jump is designed to be highly accessible, and you would likely be surprised at how many people who believe they cannot jump end up doing so. That said, you should always speak to your doctor first before moving forward with your plan to skydive.
Do I Love Amazing Experiences?
Skydiving is one of the most spectacular and memorable things that us modern humans are lucky enough to be able to do. Jumping from an airplane can very much change your life, and can have both immediate and long-term benefits to both your physical and mental wellbeing. Facing up to something scary, such as freefall, can really affect the way you feel and function in the world - and after you have jumped you might find challenging things that previously would have given you pause are now just mere minor obstacles to your progress.
